Illustrated by the author, Food Chain is Slava Mogutin's first collection in English. Part memoir, part political satire, part magic realism, the book presents a scope of texts from his early teenage poems to his latest writings, dubbed by the recent Russian anti-gay law as “homosexual propaganda.”

  • “Slava Mogutin is the bastard child of Mayakovsky and Helmut Newton. He is the best kind of artist—the kind who creates because he needs to, and who painstakingly develops an aesthetic to express that need.” – Bruce LaBruce, writer/director of Gerontophilia and Hustler White

"Pornographic, obsessive, fetishistic, and hilarious in its send-up of macho-on-macho eroticism, his work has fleeting romantic moments and energy to burn… You gotta love Mogutin’s audacious, fuck-it-all attitude and his willingness to put his kinkiest fetishes on the line." – Vince Aletti, The Village Voice

"Mogutin's work, like all the best things of the world, is something you want to keep around all the time—except when you are going through customs." – Christopher Bollen, V Magazine
